描述

The LDMs will be used on a single LIN bus and needs to have defined mounting position information. To keep the LDM part number complexity low, a side detection input shall be used to detect in-vehicle mounting position as follows:

PIN to GND LDM mounted left side of the vehicle
PIN to VBAT LDM mounted right side of the vehicle
PIN to undefined  LDM shall use last saved mounting position (If available)
 LDM shall report a failure acc. to failure reporting (If no mounting position in memory available),LDM will use left as the defaul

The mounting position learning shall happen on LDM power on. The side detected shall then be fixed in the nonvolatile memory. This learning event will fix the LIN IDs as well. LIN ID of LDM shall be saved in nonvolatile memory.

Every LDM will have its own power supply differentiating the left and right-side mounting position.
Note that it is critical to tie the side detection pin to the same power mode/source as close as possible to the LDM to have reliable side detection since side detection will occur when the LDM powers on. The side detection pin shall be connected internally to the headlamp. Below the definition is shown how to do so:
